Bro you made a masterpiece! I play this almost every day and I really enjoy. Keep going

Thanks a lot! Have you seen the steam version? (with 3x more content) https://store.steampowered.com/app/2434720/Maces_and_Dices/

๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

Thank you for taking the time to make a video! A bit unfortunate that the itch version is seriously outdated at this point though (compared to the steam release)

It's really good, but it's unclear that the skeltons heal adjacent monsters, until you see it, nothing about it suggests it heals

Thanks, sorry about that. Glad you understood it eventually though! Maybe I could change the skeletons projectile to a green plus or something.

maybe give them a priest's robe and a hat witha green plus on it too

wishlisted, hard to find good roguelike with all these vampire survivals!1

Thanks!

I GOT TRAPPED BETWEEN 2 SPODERS AND COULDNT MOVE ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

They are bullies sometimes ;(

Hello, do you have twitter?

No, but I have Mastodon, (Where I do post about this game). I'd be happy if you followed me there: https://mastodon.gamedev.place/@nitramiuz

I'm not using Mastodon. I've made a video about your game along with other indies. If you want me to stream the game, please contact via email listed to the youtube account ;)

Thanks a lot for spreading knowledge of the game! Really appreciate it.

Got spawned in a softlock my first run lol, I was stuck in a corner blocked in by a bunch of boxes and I was so confused

Yeah, that can happen sadly. It's fixed in the full release though!

I softlocked making bad choices.

Sadly the healing skeleton doesn't try to attack you if you don't move.

There is actually an achievement called "severely crippled" in the full game that you get for doing exactly those unfortunate choices. (And it also has a give up button)

haha, i love the dialoge

Thanks, but I am unsure what dialoge are you referring to?

the one you see when you die

Aha, I see. It's actually been the same text since the very start of development, I think it fits nicely.

Amazing Game!

Thanks, glad you liked it! Have you seen that a full release is releasing on steam next month? https://store.steampowered.com/app/2434720/Maces_and_Dices/

Quick question. Does anyone have any tips to beat the boss fight I keep getting mad because I always lose my move dice or my attack dice and I end up getting stuck and die and I got to the boss fight 3 times and failed each time before typing this.

So if anyone would like to help do you have any tips.

I often try to quickly kill one of the spider nests without getting too close to the boss. (It will keep it's distance for a bit and not attack you unless you get too close)

Upgraded ranged dice help a lot as well.

Good luck and thanks for playing!

Thanks I'll try it now.

Beat it.  Game was fun, but short.  Hope to see it finished.

Thank you! Development is still active, working on other a new world (desert) that has 5 completely new dice with a new way to play the game!

I like the roguelike update

Thanks! There is still more content planned!

I've really been enjoying the roguelike update! The new dice and dice upgrades are awesome. I haven't been able to beat the boss yet but definitely will keep playing in hopes of beating it soon.

Thanks! I hope the boss isn't too difficult, good luck! I'll work on some further polish (more SFX for example) before I move on to larger updates.

I just beat the boss! The difficulty seems solid to me, not too hard but definitely requires some experience. Looking forward to future polish and content!

Congrats on beating the game!

Do you have anything particular in mind of what type of new content you'd like to see/areas that need improvement?

I love the gameplay, but a few quality-of-life improvements could be nice. Movement is frustrating when the floor has been cleared but the hatch to the next floor is far away, although I'm not sure if there is a good way to solve that. More clarity on how enemies behave could be nice too, as I'm still not entirely sure how the healing skeleton enemy works. Displaying the hotkeys beneath the corresponding dice might be helpful as well, or at least a setting to enable that.

I'm excited for any future content, especially new bosses!

I was thinking about adding some sort of "instant leave" button or something when you've cleared everyting, but it feels cheap, we'll see if I can come up with something better. I will add an options letting you have numbered slots, along with being able to toggle other visual things. Thanks for the feedback!
The healer can heal 2 times, and it gets refreshed on enemy turn. It will go towards a enemy in need of healing on enemy turn and heal them, but on the player's turn it can only heal nearby enemies.

wow, great game!

it would be great to see archers' rage

Thanks!

Seeing Archers range would be nice, but I'm afraid the game would become a bit cluttered. Their range is always 3 tiles though, so you can use that knowledge to your advantage.

Great game! I am waiting for the next update

Thanks! I'm hoping of having it done before September! It will probably be released as another project though, as it will be pretty different and I want to keep the jam version.

Here's the Highlight of the interview, thanks again for coming on to answer my questions;

Thanks for having me! It was fun seeing the other interviews too.

wow this is genuinely a really cool game. I can't believe it was only made in 48 hours!

Thankyou for the kind words! I'm working on expanding it into a rougelike with more enemies, mechanics and procedural levels! My goal is to release a free alpha in the coming month, be sure to follow if you want to get notified when it releases!

Yeah! Real cool! one suggestion, maybe make the game faster or more tactile. But otherwise amazing. Not surprised this got featured.

I'm working on a rougelike version where I've already improved the game speed by letting you use WASD for movement (if you have the dice for it), it really helps the game play faster!

This is a really innovative twist on the ol' dungeon crawler! I managed to beat the current build using a ranged/ranged/melee/dash/move/dash loadout, although outmaneuvering the enemy archers was tricky! Glad to see you managed to get a Top Marks award; well-deserved.

Thank you! I'm going to expand the game into a rougelike, it will be interesting to see what kind of loadout people use then.

This is a very inventive adaptation of the GMTKGJ 2022 theme.

It's sorta easy to get killed if you don't have many options to move. Maybe an extra slot would help balance the game further? That would be great! This game has great potential to have it expanded with more enemy types and levels. 12/10.

I nearly forgot: You can get softlocked if no enemies are in sight and you have no movement blocks

Thanks!

The balance of the game can easily get thrown off if you lose some dice, but a tip is to place your new dice in a way that thay absorb the damage instead of your movement dice.

The softlocking issue could be solved by having a reserved spot for movement dice that can't break or something like that, I will think of that now when I'm turning the game into a rougelike in a future update!

Be sure to follow if you don't want to miss the free alpha release of the extended rougelike version!

"but a tip is to place your new dice in a way that thay absorb the damage instead of your movement dice."

Ah. I see. I was going for a D-R-Mv-Me-Me-Mv strategy. That must be the reason.

Followed. Played your other games.

this is very clever, I love it! Found this from the GMT video.

only feedback I have so far is that it's sort of annoying to have to drag the die into place to use it--it'd be nice to click the die I want and then use the arrow keys to determine which direction I point it.

(1 edit)

also, I can't tell how to use the dash dice.

edit: I think it wasn't showing anything because there were no legal moves for that side of the die.

(+1)

Thanks!

There are hotkeys in place to make the dragging less annoying. Use 1,2,3,4,5,6 to select a dice (and then use the mouse as usual), you can also press space to change turn.

I am considering being able to use arrow keys/WASD to move if you have the dice for it too.

I tried the hotkeys, it is easier! Maybe putting numbers on the slots would help people figure that out. Thanks!

Yeah, I'll put it in the description. The hotkeys was something I added after the jam, but otherwise everything is the same.

awesome!

Thanks! Glad you liked it

love this game, would like to see this go further!

Thank you! I have begun work on turning it into a rougelike, I am hoping to release a free alpha of the extended rougelike version in the coming month! You could follow me here on itch to be notified when the updated game releases! ;D
